The Arrente people did not give permission for Pine Gap to be constructed on their land.
Pine Gap is essential for the US military to target drones, and other weaponry, wherever it is operating, and especially in the middle east.
Pine Gap collects data globally for intelligence surveillance and analysis by the US National Security Agency (NSA). NSA shares this information with its ‘Five Eyes’ partners; UK, Canada, New Zealand & Australia.
Pine Gap is an important piece in the US-Australia alliance, reducing Australia’s ability to make independent decisions on foreign policy and conflict.
The Disarm protest camp is taking place at an abandoned quarry on Hatt Rd, and will be set up over this weekend (24th-25th Sept).
